Course Synopsis:
There were 46 workplace fatal injuries in 2022, of which seven were due to work-related traffic accidents (WRTA), compared to 37 fatalities in 2021, of which six were WRTA cases. Vehicular incidents were one of the top 2 causes of workplace fatalities in 2022. One of the common occurrences that led to these vehicular incidents is the lack of proper control of vehicular movements on site especially due to changing site conditions. This course is to facilitate one of the elements of the Traffic Management Plan, that is Training, in a more cost effective and meaningful way.
Course Description:
This course is a comprehensive training program designed to equip aspiring trainers with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively train individuals on:
- Observe SWPs or safe traffic measures.
- Always remain highly visible to the driver.
- The use of clear and standard signalling system understood by the drivers and operators of vehicles.
- Stand at a safe position while guiding the moving vehicles.
- Wear highly visible reflective vests always.
- Proper use and application of other PPE, tools and equipment, for a safe and effective traffic & vehicular control operations.
This course will cover some of the effective practices based on the “LTA’s Code of Practice: Traffic Control at Work Zone”, which includes the selection, placement, operation, maintenance and removal of traffic control devices, as well as the management of workplace supervisory and public safety. It will also emphasize on the importance of Traffic Management Plan, covering on all of its main elements and focusing on the Training element.
Course Objectives:
This Train the Trainer course is to provide participants with the knowledge, training techniques, skills and confidence to train their own staff/workers for the intended role. These in-house trained staff/workers will then be appointed as Traffic Controllers or Banksman and take part in the traffic control at their construction sites, workshops, plants, shipyards, factories, warehouses and any workplaces where there are mobile equipment and moving vehicles hazards.

Course Duration:
- 8 hours, including 1 hour of assessment (1 day).

- A pass (credit card size) of achievement will be issued to all participants after the release of the results.
